I remember the first time I made chocolate bark; it was a spontaneous decision after a long week.
I wanted something sweet but also nourishing, and this recipe came together beautifully.
I love how the rich dark chocolate pairs with whatever toppings I have on hand—nuts, dried fruits, or even a sprinkle of sea salt.
It's all about experimenting and finding what speaks to you in that moment!

Ingredients & Substitutions
Feel free to swap out the nuts and dried fruits for whatever you love or have in your pantry. This recipe is super flexible! If you're nut-free, try seeds like pumpkin or sunflower. And if you can’t find vegan chocolate chips, you can also chop up a bar of vegan chocolate.
Tips & Notes
- •I keep mine in a glass jar at room temperature, and they stay fresh for days. Just make sure they're not in direct sunlight.
- •If you're feeling adventurous, try adding a drizzle of nut butter on top before it sets for a different flavor!
Recipe Variations
- •Sometimes I’ll throw in some crushed peppermint candies during the holidays for a festive touch.
- •If I have matcha powder on hand, I’ll mix a teaspoon into the chocolate for a unique flavor twist.
Storage & Freezing
Store your chocolate bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or in the fridge if you prefer it chilled. It’s perfect for grabbing a piece when you need a little sweetness in your day!
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use cocoa powder instead of chocolate chips?
Cocoa powder won't work the same way since it needs fat to create that smooth bark. Stick with chocolate chips or a bar!

Once melted, stir in the sea salt and half of your chosen nuts and dried fruits into the chocolate.

Pour the chocolate mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it out to your desired thickness.
